📰 Zurich Approves Robotaxis: WeRide and Uber
Expand to Second European City
|
WeRide and Uber will launch a commercial Robotaxi
service in Zurich, Switzerland, in the second half
of 2025, expanding their service to a second
European city following Madrid, Spain. Supported by
the Swiss Federal Roads Office (FEDRO), they plan to
introduce fully driverless Robotaxis to downtown
Zurich through the Uber app in partnership with
local operator Rydera.

📰 Stellantis, Wayve, and Uber Partner to
Deploy Global Robotaxis
|
Stellantis, Wayve, and Uber have announced a
partnership to develop and deploy Level 4 autonomous
robotaxis in major global cities, including London
and Tokyo. This partnership combines Stellantis's
vehicle platforms, Wayve's artificial intelligence
(AI) driving software, and Uber's ride-hailing
network. As autonomous driving systems are actively
deployed on public roads, relevant organizations,
such as the OECD AI Policy Monitor (AIM), are
closely tracking the safety of autonomous vehicles
and potential risk factors to manage any emerging
hazards.

📰 Sony-Honda JV Scraps Afeela EV Plans After
Honda Strategy Overhaul
|
Sony and Honda have canceled their Afeela
electric vehicle brand, with analysts citing a
sedan-focused design in an SUV-driven market, a
high price point (approx. $90k–$120k), and a, weak
tech-focused brand identity. The project, which
failed to offer a significant competitive
advantage in driving range, ultimately collapsed
after Honda pivoted its EV strategy, removing key
platform support. This failure highlights
historical challenges for automaker sub-brands,
similar to past initiatives from Ford, Toyota, and
GM.

📰 Elon Musk’s Next Move: Speculation Rises
Over Massive SpaceX-Tesla Merger
|
Following SpaceX's IPO, speculation has emerged
that Elon Musk may merge SpaceX and Tesla to
create a $4 trillion "Elon Inc." conglomerate.
While a potential deal with himself could trigger
legal challenges, the companies' domicile in Texas
makes it difficult for minority shareholders to
block the move, with analysts predicting SpaceX
will use a share-swap merger.

📰 Autonomous Driving Leaderboard: Chinese
Robotaxis Charge Ahead
|
Baidu Apollo Go has ranked first ahead of Waymo
in the new global "Road to Autonomy Index"
developed by Autnmy AI. This real-time scorecard
benchmarks global autonomous vehicle companies
using public databases and financial reports,
refreshing every 12 hours. Three Chinese
firms—Baidu Apollo Go, Pony.ai, and WeRide—secured
spots in the top five, alongside US companies
Waymo and Tesla. The index heavily rewards actual
commercialization, weighting autonomous
operations, scale, and revenue as 70 percent of
the total score.
